IELTS Writing Task 2 / 아이엘츠 / 영어 아카데믹 라이팅
Q. Good facilities can be found in cities but not in the country side. Therefore, new doctors and teachers should be sent to the country side. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
It is an indisputable fact that well-equipped schools and clinics are mostly distributed in developed cities rather than rural areas. Some people argue that inexperienced doctors and teachers should be should be sent to find their first job in the countryside. I, however, think that people should decide for themselves where they would like to work even they are new in the field.
There are some advantages when novice general practitioners and educational instructors are assigned to non-city environment. It is well known that job market in cities is extremely tough, especially for those who are fresh out of school or college. In pastoral areas, on the other hand, new graduates can find job opportunities more easily and fast than in urban areas since those places are always understaffed. Ultimately, as these young professionals gain experiences and expertise, they would become competent and have high chances of getting lucrative jobs in the end.
I, however, believe that sending untried physicians and educators to the countryside is not justifiable. First and foremost, due to the lack of hand-on experience, those professionals are in a great need of modern technology that is hardly found in rural districts. For instance, inept doctors cannot exam and diagnose a pregnant woman properly with an old-fashioned ultrasound scanner, therefore making mistakes frequently. In this case, it is not beneficial to citizens in pastoral regions nor to new graduates. Furthermore, everyone should be able to choose a work place according to their desire and such compulsory placement is an evident violation of this right. Besides, people located in a particular place against their will, are prone to neglect their duty and responsibility, possibly causing other problems.
In conclusion, while it may be true that new surgeons and teachers can benefit from working in far-flung towns, however, in my opinion, they should be the ones who choose a place of employment in accordance with their own interest.
